Secret or Public Prayers?

Many prayers in the Bible are alone with God.   Jesus teaches us to pray in secret. Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. But understand the context; here the religious leaders liked to be seen praying, not so God would see hem, but so man would see them (and look spiritual). So public prayer especially in our churches is wonderful, see Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.

Today’s Circumstances

Today God has appointed a portion of interesting events called circumstances.   In Romans Paul says: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purposes – Romans  8:28.  In the middle of the day we sometimes question God about some “thing” that we think should not have happened. God does not seem to ask us first, He just let’s it happen. So let us believe that everything is under his allowing and trust Him.

So we do not lose heart… 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. – 2 Cor 4:16-18

Trust in Following the Lord

Never dread any consequence resulting from absolute obedience to His command. …  “The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever” ( Ps.  29:10 ). A storm is simply the hem of His robe, the sign of His coming, and the evidence of His presence. Dare to trust Him! Dare to follow Him!   From  F. B. Meyer

Here is Faith

The Israeli spies saw giants, but Joshua and Caleb saw God! Faith can see God. God has spoken, He wanted them in the good land, the land of Israel. But it seemed like a lot of problems and issues to get there. It takes faith to believe that God has given us all we need to obey Him.

We limit God…

The only thing that limits God is our faith.  Small faith small things, large faith then God can do more.   But this is balanced by obedience.  In the Christian life obedience is required, but understanding “why” is optional.  Sometime we do not understand things until later.

So in brief we limit God by our lack of faith, lack of prayer and lack of obedience to Him.

From Hebrews 12 – …let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.

The Divine nature

Everytime we obey, we receive into our natures a little more Divine nature. “If ye shall indeed obey my voice, ye shall be a holy nation unto Me.”   Exodus 19:6   This reminds me of the verse 2 Peter 1:4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
